Why Register for COIDA?

The Compensation for Occupational Injuries and Diseases Act (COIDA) requires all South African employers to register with the Compensation Fund to protect employees from workplace injuries or diseases. Registration ensures compliance, safeguards employees, and limits employer liability.

Who Needs to Register?

  • All employers with one or more employees (full-time, part-time, or foreign workers).
  • Exclusions: Independent contractors, SANDF, SAPS, and certain volunteers.

How to Register for COIDA

  2. Complete the required details: Include business name, employee count, and other relevant information. 

Key Employer Responsibilities

  • Register within 7 days of hiring an employee.
  • Report workplace injuries within 7 days and diseases within 14 days.
  • Submit annual Return of Earnings by 31 May each year.
  • Ensure compliance with the 2022 COIDA amendments, including coverage for domestic workers.
